This guide will help markets start a Chef at the Market program!  Interactive demonstrations like these serve many purposes:

  • Increase market sales of Alaska Grown specialty crops
  • Increase attendance at markets
  • Provide customers with easy ways to use veggies
  • Engage youth in healthy cooking and food choices

PREPLANNING:

Chef at the Market demos require a DEC permit if they allow the public to sample food (free food isn’t safe food!)

Proper sanitation is also an important consideration

Court Chefs:

Chefs can be found everywhere! You don’t have to be a professional food worker to qualify.  Ask foodies around your market and in your community if they’d like
